The Feldenkrais Method® combines movement, directed attention, guided exploration, and education to engage the brain’s neuroplasticity, the ability to change and evolve.
This intelligent application of attention to movement teaches us to discover and change the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behavior that limit our potential. We essentially “rewire” our bodies with the practice of specific movements, mindful repetition, and enhanced awareness in our lives, moment-by-moment. The new neural pathways we create become new habits, that organically replace the old limiting ones.
This form of somatic education was created by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais — a physicist, engineer, and a black belt student of Jigoro Kano, the originator of Judo. A chronic knee injury prompted Dr. Feldenkrais to apply his knowledge of physics, body mechanics, neurology, learning theor,y and psychology to a new understanding of human function and maturation. His investigations resulted in a unique synthesis of science and aesthetics, practiced today by a highly trained group of more than 10,000 practitioners worldwide who are certified to teach The Feldenkrais Method®.
What you find after engaging in a Feldenkrais practice is a freer, more enjoyable way to live, pain free and joyful, in the direction of your goals and dreams.
