This form of somatic education was created by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais — a physicist, engineer, and a black belt student of Jigoro Kano, the originator of Judo. A chronic knee injury prompted Dr. Feldenkrais to apply his knowledge of physics, body mechanics, neurology, learning theor,y and psychology to a new understanding of human function and maturation. His investigations resulted in a unique synthesis of science and aesthetics, practiced today by a highly trained group of more than 10,000 practitioners worldwide who are certified to teach The Feldenkrais Method®.
